A Vision of Aeroplanes
In celebration of Vaughan Williams’s 150th birthday, we performed a wonderful programme of his works, familiar and new to many, including his Five English Folk Songs, and the exciting A Vision of Aeroplanes. We also performed the beautiful Missa brevis by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. We were joined by organist Tim Wakerell for this dramatic and exciting evening of music by composers who drew so much from the folk traditions of their countries.

Northern Lights
We had hoped to be welcoming you for a fantastic programme of works by contemporary, highly celebrated composers from Finland, Estonia and Norway. The programme was to have included the dramatic and stirring Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi‘s wonderfully characterful and quirky Four Shakespeare Songs, and the haunting and achingly beautiful Passion and Resurrection by Ēriks Ešenvalds. We are hoping to come back to these pieces in the future, sadly cancelled due to a Coronavirus outbreak.

Fauré Requiem
We were delighted to return to performance with the Fauré Requiem, Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten and Otčenáš (Our father) by Leoš Janáček. Accompanied by harp, strings and organ, and with tenor soloist Greg Tassell, this was a most enjoyable evening and we thank all who joined us.

Northern Lights – Choral Music by Baltic Composers
This programme of works by Baltic and Russian composers, which was to have included Arvo Pärt’s “Berliner Messe”, and “Passion and Resurrection” by Ēriks Ešenvalds, fell victim to the Coronavirus epidemic and had to be cancelled.
